The Pioneers hit the road to St. Louis, MO to rematch Harris- Stowe State University earlier this afternoon. Crowley's Ridge College hosted HSSU earlier this year back on November 5th in the Carter Activities Center for the Pioneers home opener. Crowley's Ridge College took round one against the Hornets with a 63-56 win. Harris Stowe would get the last laugh as they defeated the Pioneers today with a score of 97-84.
ST. LOUIS, MO - BJ Johnson led the Pioneers in the first half of play with 11 points. JD Smith chased with 8 points including 2 three balls from behind the arc. Even with their effort the Pioneers entered the break trailing 30-40.
Three Pioneers posted a double digit point second half. JD Smith led the way with 19, BJ Johnson added 15, while Jaylen Bozeman got on the board with 10. Even with this valiant effort the Hornets of Harris Stowe State shot 65% in the second half and added to their halftime lead in route to a 97-84 win over Crowley's Ridge College.
JD Smith led the Pioneers with 27 points including seven for 10 from the three point line. BJ Johnson added 26 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
