PIONEERS FALL TO UAPB- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 11-22-22
Men's basketball traveled to Pine Bluff, Arkansas to take on University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff as their last match before the Thanksgiving holiday. The hosting Golden Lions would enter the halfway mark ahead of the Pioneers by 10 and would not give any hint of slowing down as they defeated CRC 70-56.
CRC would score the first bucket of the game at the 18:57 mark with a layup by Braxton Cousins but it would be UAPB that would command the score. J.D. Smith would bring the game within two, 9-11, with a three ball, but the Pioneers wouldn't be able to retake the lead as they went into the break trailing 25-35.
In the second half, Jaylen Bozeman would cut the deficit to 8 on two separate occasions with a jumper and a layup but the Pioneers could not close the gap as the Golden Lions held the lead defeating CRC.
B.J. Johnson led CRC with 17 points and Braxton Cousins had 16 points and 7 rebounds.
