City of Jonesboro issued the following announcement on June 9.
After learning that Jonesboro High student Bennett Young attended Girls State, where she was elected by her peers as mayor of her Girls State city, and later Speaker of the House in the Girls State Legislature, Mayor Copenhaver invited her to his office to talk about her experience.
As a former legislator and current mayor himself, the two had a lot of ground to cover.
The great young people of our city bring exuberance and brightness to Jonesboro now and in the future. Ms. Young is an outstanding example!
