City of Jonesboro issued the following announcement on May 24.
If you've been to the corner of Main and Huntington downtown lately, you will have seen a very special piece of artwork on the sidewalk. It was designed by interns from Project SEARCH Arkansas Access Initiative, a 9-month program in partnership with Arkansas Rehabilitation Services for young adults with disabilities. They complete three rotations at St Bernards Medical Center host site with the goal of gaining necessary skills to obtain competitive employment. After reaching out to The Foundation of Arts who has been working with artists and programs lately to bring more art and color to downtown, they were given the paints and area to complete their task. The interns came up with the concept together, and their very own Sara Silas drew the picture. The dancing man is the logo symbol for Project SEARCH and the balloons represent each intern. He will soon let the balloons go, as they graduate to find jobs and their place in our community. The City of Jonesboro would like to thank Project SEARCH and their interns for their wonderful piece of art and we wish them all the best in the future!
