Crowley's Ridge College issued the following announcement on Aug. 25.
“I initially came to CRC for volleyball and because it was close to my home. But I stayed because I fell in love with the campus and the town.
My freshman year I was so excited about volleyball that I didn’t really reach out and make any friends outside of volleyball. That started to change around my sophomore year and now I’m much more open to reaching out to and being around people.
I took a big spiritual hit during the pandemic. I had gotten used to always being around people, and having that taken away was difficult. I went through a phase of feeling lonely. But I came out of that when I realized that I may be lonely, but I’m not alone. That was a big leap in my faith for me, to realize I’m never alone because God is with me. That encouraged me to reach out to my friends a lot more during that time.
I picked CRC for volleyball, not necessarily to become a better player, but to become a better coach. In Ephesians, it talks about how the youth fall away so often in their faith. I think a big reason for that is ignorance. And I think that ignorance falls on the responsibility of us who are more experienced in our faith to share Him with them.”
