Cost of college went up for all students at Arkansas State University-Main Campus

In-state tuition and fees rose 1.5 percent for 2018-19 at Arkansas State University-Main Campus, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Arkansas residents paid $8,607 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $129 more than the $8,478 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 77.7 percent more than residents this year, or $15,297. Their price tag grew 3.5 percent from $14,778 in 2017-18.

About 80 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Arkansas residents. About 17 percent are residents of other states and 3 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 97 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,342 students received grants or scholarships totaling $11.8 million and 795 students took out student loans totaling more than $4.8 million.

Including all undergraduates (13,709), 7,124 students used grants or scholarships totaling $65.2 million, and 4,902 students took out $35.6 million in federal student loans.
