An explosion occurred at the U.S. Steel Clarion Coke Works plant in Pennsylvania, resulting in a response from local authorities and emergency personnel. Leaders of the Congressional Steel Caucus issued a statement following the incident.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident today at the U.S. Steel Clarion Coke Works plant in Pennsylvania. Our hearts and prayers are with the affected workers and their families, and we are grateful for the first responders, local authorities, and emergency personnel responding to the scene. As leaders of the Congressional Steel Caucus, one of our top priorities is the health and safety of steelworkers. We will continue to stay in contact with USW and US Steel as more details on this incident come to light.”
The Congressional Steel Caucus is made up of over 100 members from both parties who focus on supporting the American steel industry and its workforce.
U.S. Representative Rick Crawford is a member of Congress representing Arkansas’s 1st district since 2011, having succeeded Marion Berry. He was born in Homestead Air Force Base, Florida in 1966 and lives in Jonesboro. Crawford graduated from Arkansas State University with a bachelor’s degree.
