Rep. Rick Crawford, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Arkansas’ 1st district since 2011, posted a series of statements on September 30, 2025, regarding legislative efforts and ongoing budget negotiations.

Later that day, he criticized Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Democratic lawmakers over federal spending negotiations and government shutdown risks: “Bottom line is that Chuck Schumer is extorting the American taxpayer for $1.5 TRILLION to give healthcare to illegal aliens and to carry out their radical wish list, which Americans voted against.
This #SchumerShutdown sits squarely on the shoulders of the Democrats.” (posted at 19:52 UTC).
In a subsequent post at 20:09 UTC, Crawford addressed House Republican actions in passing an interim funding measure ahead of a key deadline: “.@HouseGOP did our job. We passed a CLEAN spending bill to provide enough time to complete the full budget process, well ahead of the Sept 30 funding deadline.
Now Chuck Schumer & Democrats will shut down the government, holding hostage pay for American troops, critical FEMA”.
Rick Crawford has represented Arkansas’s 1st District since succeeding Marion Berry in 2011. He was born in Homestead Air Force Base, Florida in 1966 and currently resides in Jonesboro. Crawford graduated from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1996.
