WILDCAT BURST BEATS CRC- Wil Teague, Sports Information Director, 11-12-22

Crowley’s Ridge College entered their second day of play in the Chick-fil-A Classic seeking their first win after being bested the night before by Blue Mountain College (Miss.) The Pioneers would come up empty handed as they would fall to the host team, Bethel University, 85-73.

Bethel University used a first half 14-0 run to extend their lead over the Pioneers. JD Smith and Ardell Thompson closed the gap by combining for 12 points by each hitting 2 shots each from behind the arc late in the first half. The Pioneers entered the half trailing 37-30. When play resumed, CRC made a comeback to cut the Wildcat lead to two points halfway through the second half but Bethel made transition baskets late to pull ahead and secure the win 85-73.

JD Smith led CRC with 19 points, including five for eight three pointers. Braxton Cousins and BJ Johnson added 14 points each.
