Crowley’s Ridge College issued the following announcement on Jan. 21.

Crowley’s Ridge College eked out a conference victory despite a 32-point second quarter from Bacone (Okla.) College. Lizzy Rowton posted her first career double-double to lead the Lady ‘Neers to an 87-86 victory. The neutral-site conference clash saw CRC and Bacone trade 13 ties and 10 lead changes.

Crowley’s Ridge (6-8, 2-1 CAC) sat ahead comfortably after the opening quarter ahead 22-12. N’Kyah Edwards took advantage of her first start by going 4-5 from the floor in the quarter to bucket eight points.

The second quarter was all Bacone (1-22, 0-4 CAC) who exploded for 32 points – the most given up by CRC in a single quarter this season. The Warriors were 6-7 from long range to send the Lady Pioneers back to the locker rooms reeling, but clinging to a 46-44 lead.

CRC went cold from the floor to start the second half, shooting 5-19 from the field to muster a 13-point third quarter. Meanwhile, Bacone bucketed a pair of free throws in the waning seconds of the quarter to move into the fourth quarter with a 61-59 lead.

After missing a game with a lower-body injury, Lindsey Browning returned to form at just the right moment, scoring 12 of Crowley’s Ridge’s 28 points to forge ahead to victory. CRC jumped ahead to a nine-point lead with less than 30 seconds remaining; however, Bacone hit a steal-and-score layup followed by back-to-back 3-pointers in the span of five seconds. Mercifully, the buzzer sounded with the girls in green ahead 87-86.

Five Lady ‘Neers scored in double figures: Rowton led the way with 24 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Browning’s 16. Lotti Hoffman and Madison Sellars both added 13 points, and Edwards finished with 10 points.
