CITY OF WEINER: November 8 is the day we have the privilege of voting

0Comments

This election we have some very important decisions to make. Not only who will be Mayor but other very important issues as well. On the local level we must decide if we want to increase the city sales tax in order to help fund our water department and are we going to allow alcohol sales back in the city. Alcohol sales will not be the cure-all for our budget issues, but it will affect the overall retail sales in the city. It will allow places like Dollar General and any other businesses that want to sell alcohol the opportunity to do so. This can improve the overall sales at such places while attracting new businesses. These are tax dollars we are failing to capture for our city. We are letting these tax dollars go to other cities. It would be great to have a nice restaurant in town similar to those in nearby cities.

There are also multiple state issues we need to be aware of. You can get a voter’s guide at City Hall. Everyone is encouraged to vote and make your voice heard!

If you have questions or just need clarification on any issue, please reach out to the candidates and ask them. They are easy to find so you do not need to rely on lies and rumors.
