Arkansas State University’s track and field teams began their indoor season with strong performances at two meets, earning two event titles and setting seven new personal collegiate records. The competitions took place at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston, Massachusetts, and the Commodore Winter Challenge in Nashville, Tennessee.
Colby Eddowes won the men’s 60-meter hurdles title with a final time of 7.80 seconds after advancing from the preliminary round with a time of 7.83 seconds. Eddowes also secured second place in the men’s long jump, reaching a distance of 7.51 meters.
In the men’s shot put event, Menachem Chen achieved first place by throwing 17.80 meters. Freshman Jared Moore followed closely behind, finishing second with a mark of 17.26 meters.
Other notable performances included Kamil Przybyla setting a new personal best in the men’s mile with a time of 4:07.36, which moved him into sixth place in Arkansas State’s program history for indoor competition. Brandon Williams finished fourth in the men’s elite 800 meters and set his own personal best at 1:50.13.
The results across both meets reflected several athletes achieving new collegiate bests as they opened their indoor track and field season.
