The Arkansas State men’s golf team stood in fifth place among 21 teams entering the final round of the Seminole Intercollegiate, according to a March 16 update from Tallahassee, Florida.
This position is significant as it places Arkansas State within striking distance of the top teams in a competitive field. The Red Wolves finished the second round with a score of 14-over par 302, bringing their total to 15-over par 591 for the first 36 holes. Florida State led at 4-under par 572, followed by Southern Miss, Stetson, and Troy rounding out the top four.
Thomas Schmidt led Arkansas State individually at 1-under par 143 after shooting a second-round score of one-over par 73. He was tied for fourth place overall, five strokes behind Lee Poppell of Troy. Cole Kirby, competing as an individual, was tied for sixteenth with a total score of two-over par 146. Milan Reed was tied for nineteenth at three-over par 147. Other team members included Jake Wallis (tied for forty-sixth), Jake Lile (tied for sixty-fourth), and Viggo Hed (tied for seventy-ninth).
According to the official website, Arkansas State Red Wolves Men’s Golf competes in the Sun Belt Conference and plays its home events in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The program is affiliated with Arkansas State University as part of its athletics department and features players from both international backgrounds—including Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Australia, and England—and various U.S. states.
