The Arkansas State men’s golf team is in third place entering the final round of the Sun Belt Conference Championship, according to an April 28 announcement. The event is taking place at Annandale Golf Club.
This standing is significant as it puts Arkansas State in a strong position to advance to match play, with only the top four teams moving forward after stroke play. Jake Wallis and Thomas Schmidt are both ranked among the top five individually, helping lead their team’s effort.
Wallis has posted rounds of 68 and 69 for a total score of seven-under-par, just one shot behind Max Bengtsson from Coastal Carolina for the individual lead. Schmidt recorded back-to-back rounds of 70 and highlighted his second round with two eagles and two birdies over four holes. Other contributors include Cole Kirby at one-over-par (tied for twentieth), Milan Reed at five-over-par (tied for thirty-eighth), and Jake Lile at eight-over-par (tied for fifty-second).
